  • Wednesday morn...

I made it to the gym. I did good. Today I managed to run the full 3k in 20 minutes which I failed on Monday. I am glad. I need to go again tomorrow morning and then again Friday. I know I need to go at least 3 times a week to hope to lose the last few pounds.

I have also been focusing on ab exercises whilst at the gym, I just need to do them in the evenings at home and in the mornings when I don't make it to the gym too. Haven;t done weights with hubby for some time, bit concerned that I will try to compete with him which is not good for either of us.

Sadly though, my skin is breaking out in eczema which is driving me nuts, I'm trying everything to get my body healthy before our holiday and it seems the stress at work is doing the opposite!

My skin takes an age to heal so all I can do is slather it with lotions and keep my fingers crossed. I think next week i might do one of those rather extreme detoxs, just to see if it helps. We go away in 2.5 weeks, I need all the help I can get.

  • Monday morning

And I feel good! Shame about the rain, but it has reminded me that Summer will be along... just as soon as Spring finishes, which is obviously what the rain is about, and it is good for my garden!

I made it to the gym today, after another break. I seem to start every Monday SOO full of promise and then it all goes wrong. Well I'm on lates this week so I intend to get down there every day. I was sorely disappointed today, I thought I'd try a 3k run in 20 minutes, I was sure that I could manage it, but I had to keep slowing, so in the end I ran 2.5k which isn't too bad as I havent focused on distance (or even running) for a while now!

I did some sit-ups and weights for my triceps too, ooooh, I bought some lovely clothes for the holiday which is now less than 3 weeks! And I bought the most sexiest pair of pink sandals you could ask for. I'll post a pic tonight!

Anyway, I need to be exercising lots this week, I drank nearly two bottles of wine Saturday night (which accounts for my wine goggles) and then I'm out for curry on Wednesday AND Friday night, with different people of course. So, I think I'll stay off the alcohol til then!

Right, must get a wriggle on, late means 9.30am not noon!

    Have a great day all

  • Back to it!

I've been lacking in energy this week. I've not been the gym til today. Not sure which begets which, but I've been this morning, I did a 10 min cycle on intervals and then 5 minutes with the arm cycle and then about 15 minutes of sit-uppy things, followed by 5 mins on the cross trainer.

Suddenly I am full of energy. Did I find my energy or did it find me?

Who knows. Right, breakfast and shower then work. Have a great day!

  • My spinning class...

was not as hard as I remembered it being, last time I ached for almost a week after. I enjoyed it today, but I don't ache like that. Does this mean I have not worked hard enough? In which case why did I go? :??: Or does this mean that in the intervening months my body has got fitter and can cope with the pain?

I have been good of late, and I need to keep it up. Only 4 weeks til my holiday and I have yet to miraculously obtain my flat belly. Still, I'll keep trying.

Must check out the classes at the gym this week. I've body pump booked for Wednesday evening already.

    Ok, onwards.

  • I did it!

The circuit training was actually quite good fun once I got out of the odd sensation of being in my junior school gym hall. I mean, they have the same pull out wooden climbing frame/high jump bars from when I went, the same set of ropes and the same benches.

I guess I thought school woulda changed but no!

We started with a warm up run around the school field/leisure centre track, followed by stretches and some more warm-uppy run abouts, then went indoors where a 'lovely' selection of exercises waited - i think it was about 1 minute on each thing, some were weights, some stomach exercises, some just cardio, and the beauty? Push yourself as hard or as easy as you can!

Anyway, some time later I left and walked home. I don't feel tired so not sure if I worked hard enough, but my muscles ache from the weights so that's gotta be good? Right, dinner is almost done, a spicy pork stir fry bundled into tortilla wraps for ease of eating.

    Good night guys

  • I call it madness!

I have been trying to be healthy, I've stopped drinking coffee at work and have been taking healthy snacks instead of buying junk.

Yesterday I went to the gym in the morning and did a pretty good workout - similar to Sunday/Monday. Then I made myself a small roll for lunch, but at lunch time I lost control and had apple crumble with custard for pudding. They served up a massive portion too, but I polished it off regardless.

Today I went for a work out this morning, I cycled about 6k but I did it at increasing resistances, til I couldn't cope. Then I tried running at intervals of 30 secs slow and 1m-1m.30 of fast as poss. I did this for 15 minutes and got up to a maximum speed of 12kph! Only for about 90 seconds though.

I also did a small selection of weights and sit-up type things before coming home and getting ready for work. Now though? I am sitting in my gym gear, I'm going back for more... well kinda.

I've signed up for a Circuit training class at 7.15pm - so I'm hoping I don't collapse. I have lots of energy at the moment so it'll be good, and tomorrow is a definite rest day. I'm trying to stay off the net a bit more, as I'm conscious that I could lose a whole day sitting on my bum blogging, so I apologise if I miss any of your news.

Right, best get my shoes and use my puffer before i head out. Oops, meant to cut the veggies for dinner before I went so hubby can cook tonight (we had dominos deliver our dinner last night) but I ended up blogging instead. ooops.

Have a relaxing evening and I'll try and sweat some for all of you!

  • Another good'un

I pretty much did a repetition of yesterdays work out. My thighs ache. I've also been eating almost as healthily.

I tried to book some classes at the gym for this week but they were fully booked, so instead I have settled for second choice of classes and dates/times. Better than nothing mind.

I am now booked in for Circuit training on Thursday evening and Studio Cycling (aka Spinning) on Sunday morning. In between days I am hoping to do another slot at the gym and then a swim with hubby. Oh and the blasted weights and sit-ups. We shall see how that progresses.

I feel low in energy despite all this exercise which is odd, I used to feel full of energy before. Maybe I'm missing something else, although I can't think what in my diet.

I've been silly about this damn implant too. Instead of just booking a date and getting it taken out, then trying to get pregnant? I've been surfing the net, reading all the doom and gloom about Implanon, how long it could take to get periods/pregnant and numerous other side effects which people have had whilst on or after removal.

There was one comment though which cheered me. One voice of sanity in the whole of the doom'n'gloom filled 'net - which asked: how many of the women complaining about fertility problems post implanon had actually a)proven fertility and b)regular periods prior to, and c)had had exhaustive check-ups to ensure there were no other causes delaying pregnancy. Go that lady!

So, I am hopeful that when it is out, and the time is right I will fall preggers. Who knows if that will be quick or slow but I shall certainly have fun practising and until then will not stress out too much :)

    Have a good week!

  • Better

    Todays gym workout:
Bike - ten minutes on interval training. A lot faster than normal.
Row - 1000m in 4.39 minutes - I got upto 34 strokes per second which is good for me!
    Run - 20 minutes (2.8kms) on a slope at upto 8.5kph
Arm machine - 5 minutes peddling my arms.
    Bike - 15 minutes - up a slope - really knackering and managed 3.8kms
    Situps- 60

    I am quite impressed.

    Food so far:
    banana
    litre of water at gym
2 oatcakes with a wee bit of peeny butter
shake - (banana, strawberrys, protein powder, applejuice, milk and sesame seeds)
    cheese & ham panini
    apple.

I'm desperately trying to get back on track but it is hard.

Later hubby and I are gonna do a weights workout, and we'll be eating a portion controlled meal. It sucks coz hubby is losing weight so much easier than me. He doesn't get tempted during the day at work but I've really slipped. We saw his mum on Friday and she commented that she'd never seen him so skinny!

  • Slacker!

Just a short post today to update, I've got to leave in about 5 minutes for work!

This week I have been particularly crap at getting up, or down to the gym. I made it Monday morning and did a bit of cardio and some sit-ups, we tried out hubby's weights again Monday evening and I overdid it showing off.

Then this morning (after a lovely curry out last night with hubby) I took myself back to the gym. I was running late as usual, so I was in a hurry. I completed a warm up on the bike, then rowed 1000m's in 4m 48 which wasn't too bad. I moved on to the treadmill and set up my usual uphill/dowhill run for 20 minutes. I covered 2.7kms in total and broke a sweat several times. I didn't go to my top speed as I didn't feel capable.

Then back onto the bike for a cool down and lastly some stretches before heading home. Anyway, the reason behind my post title? I realised as I left the gym that: yes, i felt energised, but no I certainly did not feel as though I had tested my body in any way. I have grown comfy in my routine and have not been pushing myself nearly enough! And then I wonder WHY I'm not losing any weight!

So, it's made me think. I know my junk food consumption needs reducing, but I now know I need to rethink my 'training' plan and maybe seek one of those 'on-line trainer' sites to give me more of an idea what I should be doing. I'd ask the people at the gym, but they don't seem to be bothered with what I want to achieve or the time I have.

Does anyone know a good website?

I've a busy bank holiday weekend, but nothing on for Easter Sunday so I'm going to go for a real long work out, and thankfully my verucca is almost gone, so I might even have a swim too! Knowing my luck though, my period will arrive Sunday morning! Grrr. I'm all out of sync now to how I was.

Hope you all have a fun and relaxing long weekend. You certainly deserve it!

    Big hugs and Happy Easter!

  • Good news

Still 11 stone 10 so I'm happy that I haven't gone up. I've been the gym twice this week, so the challenge is there, for me to go 3 times or more next week and then to maintain it.

Have a good day all, tis Friday and the weekend (teaser) will soon be upon us. I have a busy one, my delayed shopping trip to Brighton with my mother, shame I'm not in shape to buy great holiday clothes but i can at least help my mum.

    Cheerio
